Our 2012 Renaissance Apprenticeship Program Singers

As part of its nonprofit public service mission, Renaissance is committed to the support of young musicians in the field of choral music. We’ve adopted an apprenticeship program for promising Charlotte-area high school singers. This program was launched in 2007 to help talented high school singers develop their potential and their love of music. The addition of these young singers to our choir each holiday season is something the Renaissance singers always look forward to.

Each year, local choral teachers nominate talented juniors and seniors to audition for this program. Four students are chosen to be mentored by ensemble members, attend rehearsals and participate in our Christmas concert.

The Renaissance board of directors covers all expenses for this experience and makes a donation to each participating school’s choral department.  Successful apprentices receive certificates and letters of recommendations for use with college music programs.

We are proud to introduce you to this year’s RAP singers, and look forward to sharing their voices with you this holiday season:

Our 2012 RAP Singers:

Gabi Stephens – Soprano
South Mecklenburg High School, senior

Lindsay Ferkol – Alto
Audrey Kell High School, junior

Brian Vercauteren – Tenor
Charlotte Catholic High School, senior

Ruben Arguello – Bass
South Mecklenburg High School, senior

These students will be participating  fully in the December 22 Christmas concert. The Renaissance RAP program appears poised to make ever more substantial contributions to the future of Carolinas choral music in the years ahead.
