About Us

Founded in 2002, Renaissance is a select group of about three dozen singers committed to presenting high-quality choral music to Charlotte and the surrounding region.  The group sings short-form classical music from all periods and genres.

We invite you to join us for our 2013-2014 season as we again draw from the vast treasure of great choral literature. Our trio of concerts spans more than 500 years of music written for the choral instrument, and there will be music to please every palate. As always, our aim is to present to the Charlotte region the very best choral literature performed to an exacting standard. If you love the sound of voices lifted in beautiful harmony, come and join our musical journey and let the music take you to a place you otherwise could not go. We do it LIVE!

Renaissance premieres ‘O Magnum Mysterium’

In celebration of our 10th anniversary season, Renaissance commissioned Rock Hill composer Kevin Gray to compose a setting of “O Magnum Mysterium”, and this wonderful new a cappella choral work
is dedicated to Robert Pritchard, our founding director.  The premiere performance  took place at our annual “Christmas in the City” concert held at Christ Episcopal Church in Charlotte on December 22, 2012.
To hear this performance, use the following link to the composer’s webpage  www.jameskevingraycomposer.com. Once on the webpage, click on “Gallery”  and then click on “O Magnum Mysterium” to access the recording.

Renaissance invites you to join us for a celebration of spring and rebirth as we present Springolio at St. John’s Baptist Church in Charlotte. Our 8:00 p.m. concert is music inspired by the Mass, madrigals and folk songs, and features composers Francis Poulenc, William Byrd, Randall Thompson and William Standford among others.
